Bighorn Sheep (Ovis canadensis) inhabit the steep mountain slopes of North America. Also known as "mountain sheep", the various species range from Alaska to the deserts of the southwest. Known for their large weighty curling horns that the males, called rams will use in competitions for females or ewes. These fights lead to violent high impact head butts with loud "cracks" heard over the mountainsides. These duals are spectacular to watch and a challenge to photograph.
